The Munroe Society

The William Munroe Special Collections holdings of the Concord Free Public Library Corporation grew out of Munroe's vision for the Library when it was founded in 1873. These Collections are the most comprehensive archive of primary and secondary source material related to Concord history, social and political life, government, culture, literature, people, and landscape.

The mission of the William Munroe Special Collections is to collect, preserve, interpret, and share these materials so that we can learn from our past and ensure that these materials are there for future generations to discover, use, and enjoy. We need your help to do this!

To become a member, please contribute $50 per household in annual dues to cover our administrative costs.

THE MUNROE SOCIETY is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the William Munroe Special Collections. Members will have opportunities to:

  • participate in members-only programs with curators and scholars to deepen your understanding of the Collections
  • receive invitations for member events, exhibition previews, tours, and field trips
  • support conservation efforts and strategic acquisitions that strengthen the holdings
  • receive communications that keeps you up-to-date with Special Collections activities and highlights items in the Collections
  • serve as an ambassador, helping to raise awareness and appreciation for the Collections throughout our community

We hope you will join us in this meaningful and fulfilling endeavor.
